Meet Our Staff

J. David Eaton, MD, MPH

Dr. Eaton earned his undergraduate degree in biochemistry from Mississippi State University and then attended the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in Jackson,

MS where he graduated in 1989. He then completed residency training in Family Medicine at the University of Alabama College of Community Health Sciences. After working for several years in Emergency Medicine and Trauma, Dr. Eaton obtained his master’s degree in public health from the Medical College of Wisconsin and then completed an Occupational Medicine residency at the University of Pennsylvania.


Dr. Eaton spent many years working for the local automotive and steel industry while being employed by DCH Occupational Medicine where he retired in 2020, to continue his career in primary care. Dr. Eaton is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and is also board certified by the American Board of Preventive Medicine in Occupational Medicine. Dr. Eaton is also a certified Medical Review Officer for the Medical Review Officer Certification Council (MROCC).


Dr. Eaton has lived in Tuscaloosa for the past 35 plus years, where he and his wife, Beth, have two daughters. They enjoy traveling and are avid fans of the Kansas City Chiefs where they have been season ticket holders for the past 25 years.

Dana Free, CRNP

Dana Free is from Northport, Alabama. She earned her bachelors of science in nursing at the University of Florida. She worked at Children’s Hospital of Alabama, and then earned her Master’s degree in nursing in pediatric primary care.  She later earned another Master’s degree in nursing in the family practice tract at Samford University, and then began her career as a nurse practitioner in family practice in 2014. She has continued in family practice, performing in a variety of roles, including pediatrics, women’s health, some psychiatry, hepatitis C treatment, employee health, and urgent care. She is a member of the West Alabama Nurse Practitioner Association, and the Nurse Practitioner Alliance of Alabama.  She is double board certified by the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board as a PNP, and the America Academy of Nurse Practitioners as a family FNP/CRNP.



Dana enjoys compassionate care for her patients, encouraging them and helping them be strengthened and guided along their healthcare journey.  She is married to Brandon, and they have two children, Braeden and Kendall.  Outside of medical care, she enjoys ministry and teaching the Word of God, leading small groups, and writing books.  She has published three books so far.
